Taïwan

Taiwan is a small island located some 150 km from China, where tea is grown in a multitude of small farms, often family owned. The island was formerly called Formosa, and black tea was manufactured here for a long time in order to meet the needs of European countries. As of the 1950s green teas were preferred and it was only in the 1970s that Taiwan began to focus on quality and specialize in the production of oolong teas, today's almost all the teas produced.
