How oolong tea is manufactured?

Stages involved in producing oolong tea.

Oolong tea leaves in bulk.

1- WITHERING, often completed outside on bamboo trays or tiles.

2- OXIDATING-TUMBLING the leaves regularly over several hours to trigger slow oxidation until the desired level is obtained.

3- ROLLING by hand or machine to give the leaves a ball or spiral shape.

4- DRYING to ensure the leaves have a low level of humidity. This can be done either in ovens or rotating drums.
